So it is now official and out in the open. That's exciting news for anyone that wants to become a fan. Because with the logo, colors, jersey, and name release – here comes the merchandise.

Fans will now be able to buy apparel and accessories for the new team. A team in a city that tends to be pretty rabid about their sports franchises.

With that in mind, it would not surprise many if the Kraken did very well in the merchandise category.

This is especially true considering the name. “Kraken” will be considered corny by some. However, a hefty chunk of people will absolutely love the name. And the colors and schemes will definitely inspire a lot of cool hats and clothing.

So even if someone isn't a fan of the franchise, they might be inclined to buy some merchandise.

The Kraken become the 32nd team in the NHL, following the successful arrival of the Las Vegas Golden Knights just a few short years ago.

It will be interesting to see how Seattle does in its inaugural year. They have definitely done a good job so far with the unveiling.

The overall response seems to lean heavily to the positive side. Obviously, there are the detractors but that's bound to happen.

Now it's time to come up with the nicknames, names for the fanbase, and everything in between that the fans get to have a lot of fun with. Step one was a success, on to step two.
