Why The Jets Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Winnipeg Jets head into this game on an 8-3-0 surge, including a two-game winning streak where both of those wins came out of overtime. The key to winning games lately for the Jets is their offensive play, scoring an excellent 3.85 goals per game in the month of March so far. However, the Jets' defense is pretty shakey as they tend to give up a lot of scoring chances just to be bailed out by their goaltending. Speaking of which, star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck will look to get the start tonight for the Jets. His numbers on the year never reflect his true talent, but so far on the season, he has a .911 save percentage while allowing 2.94 goals against per game. He'll look to shut down a hot Sabres team in their own barn tonight.

Why The Sabres Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Buffalo Sabres put together an incredible comeback on Monday against the Blackhawks as they dug themselves out of a four-goal deficit and ended up winning from a fluke play bouncing off of the boards and into the net in the final 10 or so seconds in the game. The Sabres have increased their point streak to six games now as they're not ending this season without a fight. Over the last five games, the Sabres have scored at least four goals per game, so their offense is starting to find their rhythm, but their defense is still struggling, allowing 3.80 goals against per game. Goaltender Craig Anderson will get the start tonight and look to cut down on that goals-against stat tonight, as he is sporting a .901 save percentage and allowing 3.13 goals against per game through 22 games.

Final Jets-Sabres Prediction & Pick

The Sabres have been buzzing lately, really trying to end the season on a high note. They won't be seeing the playoffs, realistically, but it's certainly worth a shot I guess. The problem for the Sabres is their goaltending not being able to keep pucks out of the net. The Jets are also probably not going to make the playoffs, but at least they're still in the hunt, just three points behind the second wild-card position.

After looking at the board, the only play I like tonight is Over 6.5 goals. Both of these offenses have been on a tear, and the Sabres have some of the worst goaltending in the league. I also kind of like the Sabres +1.5 at home, but for the value pick, I'm going to be taking the over while it's still in plus money.

Final Jets-Sabres Prediction and Pick: Over 6.5 (+106)
