Game 1 between the Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche featured 14 total goals and four different goalies. The offensive outpouring from both sides was shocking, as neither team's defense seemed capable of keeping their opponent off the board. After Mike Smith was pulled in the Game 1 loss, Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft refused to name a starting goaltender for Game 2, though he did admit that he supported the 40-year-old Smith, via Darren Dreger.

Woodcroft remained mum on his choice between Smith and backup Mikko Koskinen ahead of Game 2 after the goal-fest of Game 1. Smith has had an up-and-down postseason, and his struggles against the high-octane Avalanche offense were undoubtedly a cause for concern among Oilers fans.

Smith faced 25 shots on net in Game 1, surrendering 6 goals and making 19 saves for a measley save percentage of just .760. He was replaced by Koskinen midway through the second period. The 33-year-old backup fared much better than Smith, stopping all but one of the 21 shots on target he saw. His .952 save percentage was a vast improvement over Smith's, and he may have done enough to earn himself a shot as the Game 2 starter, though Woodcroft refused to reveal his plans.

Oddly enough, Smith has a history of struggling in Game 1's. This playoffs alone, his save percentage in series openers have been significantly worse than during the rest of the way, so perhaps the veteran is in line for a bounce-back performance against the Avs after what was a pitiful display on Tuesday night.

Woodcroft has a critical decision on his hands, but Oilers fans will have to wait until Thursday to find out who will be in net  in Game 2.
