Team USA had another scare in their last game against a fundamentally sound Serbian squad led by point guard Milos Teodosic and Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic.

The final score was 94-91 and it was the most competitive game for the Americans in a very long time. For some reasons, the aura of invincibility is no longer there for the United States despite being armed with a bevy of NBA stars.

In Michael Lee’s article for The Vertical, Serbian center Nikola Jokic shared his mindset against Team USA.

“They are just players. If you think about who they are, you are not going to be good at this. Maybe Australia showed us they can get beat. They can get beat.”

Jokic top-scored in this game with 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the field. A lot of credit goes to Serbia’s very efficient ball movement which exposed their opponents’ weakness in defending as a team.

With one more big game before heading into the knockout stages, Team USA is on the clock.
