Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic recently lauded the talent of their third-year wing Michael Porter Jr.

The two-time All-Star then expressed his desire for Porter to ease into a larger role and get more involved within the team's system for this season, per DNVR Sports‘ Harrison Wind.

The former Missouri standout came out with a huge all-around performance in the team's season opener against the Sacramento Kings where he produced 24 points, five rebounds, and two assists. He also contributed on the defensive end as he tallied two blocks and three steals as a starter but the team ultimately lost out on a 124-122 defeat.

In the following game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Porter started once again for head coach Mike Malone but was only limited to tally 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists through 23 minutes of action en route to a 121-108 loss.

Everyone within the Nuggets' squad already realizes the 22-year-old's high ceiling but he still isn't maximized to the full extent on the court. His limited action may be due to the team's depth at his position as he continues to share minutes with Will Barton, Gary Harris, Monte Morris, and PJ Dozier.

Staring at a 0-2 record to start the season, Nuggets head coach Mike Malone will need to tap into Porter's potential in order to help the team win more games. Hopefully, Michael Porter Jr. will get to make strides in the right direction as he continues to firmly establish his role within the team. If anything, he has Nikola Jokic's support to do it.
