Denver Nuggets fan will have to wait longer to see 2018 first-round pick Michael Porter Jr. take the court. According to Mike Singer of the The Denver Post, Porter suffered a knee sprain at Nuggets minicamp on Wednesday, and he's not expected to suit up in Summer League.

Porter has dealt with numerous health issues the last few years. In the first half of his first college basketball game for Missouri, Porter sustained a back injury that required surgery and kept him out for the remainder of the college basketball regular season. He returned during the SEC Tournament but was a shell of himself.

Despite the injury concerns, the Nuggets selected Porter with the 14th pick in the draft. Unfortunately, Porter underwent another back surgery in mid-July before the 2018-2019 season.

Denver believes this injury isn't serious, but it's still yet another unfortunate setback for the talented young forward. Porter once was viewed as potentially the top prospect in the 2018 draft class. Luckily, he should be ready for training camp in the fall.

In the 2019 NBA Draft, Denver selected another injured player with star potential in Bol Bol. If Porter and Bol can regain their physical health and take the court, Denver is in prime position to make a run at an NBA championship. The Nuggets fell short in 2019 after losing to the Portland Trail Blazers in the second round of the playoffs, and they're hoping Michael Porter Jr. can help take them to the next level.
