Michael Porter Jr. will finally debut this season for the Denver Nuggets after missing all of the 2018-19 campaign due to injury. Per Mike Singer of the Denver Post, the Nuggets have no plans to put a minutes restriction on their red-shirt rookie.

All eyes will be on Nuggets redshirt rookie Michael Porter Jr. next week when training camp opens in Colorado Springs. According to Connelly, Porter has been “full bore” in scrimmages and won’t have a minutes restriction heading into the season.

“I think where he is physically is about as good as we could’ve ever imagined on draft night,” he said.

Porter sat out all of last season due to a back injury that he had been dealing with since college. MPJ was supposed to suit up for Denver in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. However, he suffered a left knee sprain in one of their scrimmages that ruled him out for the rest of the summer.

The good news now is that he appears to be over that minor setback and is ready to go for training camp next week. More importantly, it looks he can already put the back injury in the past.

Nevertheless, even without the minutes restriction, this doesn't mean he'll get all the run he can have. And it doesn't mean the Nuggets will instantly give it to him.

MPJ is still just a rookie. His last taste of real organized basketball was probably in high school. So, the Nuggets will have to bring him on slowly. Likewise, he'll have to earn his minutes like everyone else did on the roster.
