Nikola Jokic is not your average NBA star. The Denver Nuggets center has been one of the league's best players this season, but he'll be the first one to pull his name out of the conversation for Most Valuable Player.

He did just that following the Nuggets' victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder Tuesday night, besting fellow MVP candidate Paul George.

“I think it's funny, to be honest. I think there is a player better than me, they're going to win the MVP. I'm just trying to play really good team basketball.”

Jokic was the man of the hour in Denver, scoring 36 points to go along with nine rebounds, 10 assists, and one block. His total repertoire was in full display, even manhandling Steven Adams at one point as if the Kiwi big man was a lanky shooting guard at the post.

The Joker, as he's been fondly called, is having the best season of his career. He holds averages of 20.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game to lead the Nuggets to a firm grasp of the Western Conference's second-best record. They're only one game behind the Golden State Warriors.

Denver has been a joy to watch this season as they perfectly whip out a balanced attack, maximizing their treasure trove of weapons. At the center of it all is Jokic, all 7'0″ and 250 lbs of him fooling around with self-deprecating humor.

He's a stud who doesn't care about status. He's not an alpha personality but he'll joyfully destroy opponents while doing multiple dabs.
