Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid has earned a reputation as one of the fastest skaters in the NHL. McDavid has reached top speeds of up to 25 MPH on the ice. With speed like that, it's no surprise that the Oilers star has taken home the NHL's fastest skater skills competition hardware home three times in his NHL career. With McDavid's All-Star plans revealed, the speedster could make NHL history this Friday in Las Vegas, as noted by ESPN.

McDavid is a three-time winner of the event, winning three years in a row from 2017 to '19. With a win Friday night at T-Mobile Arena, McDavid can pass Hockey Hall of Famer Mike Gartner in career wins. Gartner also won the event three times (1990, 1993, 1996).

Oilers star Connor McDavid will compete in the NHL All-Star Skills challenge, which is slated to take place on Friday night, with the All-Star game to follow on Saturday afternoon. As a three-time winner of the fastest skater event, McDavid stands to make NHL history if he takes home the hardware for a fourth time.

The Oilers center would surpass Hall of Famer Mike Gartner, who also has won the NHL All-Star Skills competition three times.

As such, all fans' eyes will be on Connor McDavid on Friday night when he takes the ice to attempt to prove that he's perhaps the fastest skater in NHL history.
