The Edmonton Oilers took a commanding 3-1 series lead in their Western Conference Semifinals series against the hated Calgary Flames Tuesday night, 5-3. In the process, Oilers forward Evander Kane accomplished something that no player in NHL history has ever achieved.

Kane scored his fourth and fifth goals of these playoffs in the Game 4 win. He became the first player to ever score multiple goals in at least five of the team's first 11 games that in a given postseason.

With just over a minute remaining in the first period and the Oilers already leading 2-0, Kane beat Flames goalie Jacob Markstrom for his 11th playoff goal. The Flames did not go away though. Calgary would go on to score the next three goals and tie the game up in the third period.

Late in the third, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins put Edmonton back on top with his second goal of the game. Then with under a minute remaining, Kane scored a power play goal, putting the finishing touches on a 5-3 victory.

The Oilers embattled star forward has drawn criticism throughout his career as a dirty player. Nevertheless, he has always been productive on the ice and typically does a great job getting underneath his opponents skin. Earlier in the series against the Flames, Matt Tkachuk asked if he needed money, referencing Kane's recent bankruptcy filing. Edmonton has won all three games since that happened.

The ‘Battle for Alberta' is now tilting in the direction of Edmonton. They are just one win away from reaching the Western Conference Finals.
