We are down to four teams left as the Edmonton Oilers will meet the Dallas Stars in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. We're here to share our NHL odds series, make an Oilers-Stars Game 1 prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.

The Oilers defeated the Vancouver Canucks in seven games to seal their ticket to the Western Conference Finals. After losing 5-4 in Game 1, the Oilers took Game 2 in overtime by a 4-3 score to split the first two games. Then, they lost 4-3 in Game 3 before winning 3-2 in Game 4 at home. The Oilers lost 3-2 in Game 5 to put themselves on the brink of elimination. Yet, they rallied to win 5-1 in Game 6 before closing it out 3-2 in Game 7 on the road.

The Stars defeated the Colorado Avalanche in six games to advance to the Western Conference Finals. After falling 4-3 at home in Game 1, the Stars won the next three games, including two on the road. Then, they fell 5-3 at home in Game 5 to force a trip back to Colorado. But the Stars won 2-1 in double overtime to eliminate the Avs and move on to the next round.

It will be the second finals appearance in three seasons for the Oilers. Unfortunately, they fell 4-0 to the Avalanche two seasons ago. They are 6-4 in 10 conference finals appearances.

It will be the sixth appearance for the Stars in the finals. Amazingly, it will be their third in seven seasons. Dallas is 3-2 in Western Conference Finals appearances.

It will be the first playoff meeting since the 2002-2003 season. Overall, the Stars have won the last five series. The teams last met in the Western Conference Finals when the Minnesota Northstars defeated the Oilers 4-1 in the 1991 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Why The Oilers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Oilers adjusted in the final two games to help get over the hump and eliminate the Canucks. Ultimately, their experience pushed them forward, in addition to an excellent offense.

Leon Draisaitl is leading that offense with eight playoff goals and 16 assists, including six tallies on the powerplay and two game-winning markers. Additionally, he has been solid in the faceoff circle, winning 116 draws and losing 107. Connor McDavid has netted two goals and 19 assists. Yet, he has not been the greatest in the faceoff circle, winning just 76 draws and losing 96.

Defenseman Evan Bouchard has tallied five goals and 15 assists, including three game-winning conversions, including the goal that sealed Game 7. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has four goals and 12 assists, including two powerplay tallies. However, he has been awful in the faceoff circle, winning just 19 draws and losing 37. Zach Hyman has potted 11 goals and two assists, including four powerplay conversions.

The defense adjusted over the last two games, as Edmonton did not allow Vancouver to get as many shots. Now, they hope to shut down another powerful offense. Stuart Skinners will have to play well. So far, he is 7-3 with a 2.87 goals-against average and a save percentage of .881.

The Oilers will cover the spread if they are able to generate multiple scoring chances. Then, they must clamp down and stop the Dallas offense from going off.

Why The Stars Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Stars just finished off a series where they played inconsistent hockey, which led to them winning just one home game but winning all three. Therefore, they hope for more consistency out of the gate after losing Game 1 in the first and second rounds.

Miro Heiskanen has been the offensive leader, with five playoff goals and eight assists, including three powerplay tallies. Meanwhile, Jason Robertson has been solid, with three goals and nine assists, including two powerplay markers. Wyatt Johnston has seven goals and four assists, including two powerplay conversions. Additionally, he has won 73 draws and lost 76.

The Dallas veterans have been holding their weight. So far, Jamie Benn has three goals and five assists in the postseason. Benn has also continued to be exceptional in the faceoff circle. Significantly, he has won 81 draws and lost 50. Tyler Seguin has netted three goals and five assists, including two game-winning markers. Notably, he has won 76 draws and lost 62.

Defense carried them to the Western Conference Finals. Now, they hope to pick it up a notch against one of the best offensive powerhouses in the league. Jake Oettinger leads that defense, with a record of 8-5 with a 2.09 goals-against average and a save percentage of .918.

The Stars will cover the spread if they can avoid making mistakes near the back of their net. Thus, they also must avoid taking penalties.

Final Oilers-Stars Game 1 Prediction & Pick

The Stars have done a lot of good things to get here. However, it is difficult to ignore the fact that they have lost Game 1 twice at home. The Oilers also have a lot of momentum going into this one. Expect this game to go down to the wire, with each team vying for victory. But the Oilers have the pedigree to get the job done and steal this game on the road. Expect McDavid and Draisaitl to lead the charge and help Edmonton cover the spread on the road.
