With the 2018 NBA Dunk Contest officially in the books, fans are once again left reminiscing one some of the best moments in the event's history. However, not all dunk contest highlights are provided by basketball stars.

Back in 1992, a bevy of professional athletes participated in the Foot Locker Slam Fest. The contest even featured an NFL showdown between future Hall of Famers Cris Carter and Michael Irvin per Basketball Network:

There were a number of stars from nearly every major sport to taking part in the event. Athletes like Ken Griffey Jr., Deion Sanders, and even Barry Bonds all gathered to show off their dunking ability.

Carter and Irvin's athletic skill set translated well to the hardwood. Such is the case with those who play wide receiver or tight end, as they often times have basketball backgrounds. That said, they were able to provide quite a show for the fans in attendance at the Arizona State University Activity Center that night.

The Vikings legend kicked things off with an alley-oop to himself from the baseline to register a 9.7 on his first attempt. Irvin then responded with his best Dee Brown impression, who had just won the NBA Dunk Contest the year before in 1991. However, his score was hardly that of Brown's after recording a 9.5.

Carter then tried to seal the deal with a rock-the-cradle that would have made Larry Nance proud. More importantly, he put the Cowboys legend in a tough position going into his second attempt. However, “The Playmaker” was able to live up to his name with a behind-the-back tomahawk to escape with the win and advance to the next round.

Unfortunately, his run was short lived after losing to Olympic Gold Medalist Mike Conley in the semifinal round. Needless to say, the basketball genes were strong with the decorated triple jumper as his son, Mike Conley Jr., is now the star point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies.
