United States skier Mikaela Shiffrin has shockingly struggled at the 2022 Winter Olymics in Beijing. First, Shiffrin registered DNF's (Did Not Finish) in the Giant slalom and slalom portions of the women's individual skiing events at the Games. The two-time Olympics gold medalist looked to the Alpine combined event as a chance for redemption- and things were trending in the right direction when she entered the slalom portion in fifth place. However, Shiffrin's struggles at the 2022 Winter Olympics continued after she shockingly recorded another DNF at the Alpine combined event, via ESPN. The U.S. skier spoke about her woes at the Beijing Games.

“Oh, man, I don't know if anybody has failed that hard with so many opportunities maybe in the history of the Olympics,” Shiffrin said in an interview on NBC following the race.

“I don't know, sometimes you just have to take it, I guess. Try to fix it the next time. I don't know what I'm supposed to fix. That's the frustrating thing. I don't think there's something to fix. It just went really, really wrong.”

Mikaela Shiffrin is clearly at a loss for words when trying to explain her struggles at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Shiffrin said that she “doesn't know if anybody has failed this hard” in the history of the Olympics.

While that is certainly not true, it definitely feels like that for the talented skier, who entered the Olympics as the favorite in each of her events. Shiffrin spoke to bouncing back and trying to fix things but noted that it's hard because she “doesn't know what she's supposed to fix.”

It sounds like Shiffrin is enduring a tough mental block at the 2022 Winter Olympics. It's unfortunate that it prevented her from securing the results she wanted, though the world should know that the talented skier will be back sooner or later.
