The Cleveland Cavaliers were one of the teams in hot pursuit of All-Star forward Paul George prior to him being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The conversation has once again become relevant after it was revealed that Kyrie Irving had recently requested a trade from the Cavaliers a couple of weeks ago. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Irving was believed to be the No.1 trade target for the Pacers in exchange for George.
There have been several other reports that have suggested that Indiana would have hammered out a deal if Irving had been involved in trade talks. However, it was not known at that time that he was unhappy and wanted to go elsewhere.
This must be an even more frustrating revelation for the Cavaliers given that the team had some significant interest in landing George last month. It also only further heightens the belief from the organization that they could have acquired both Chris Paul and Paul George had they known Irving's intentions earlier.
Although the Cavaliers missed out on an opportunity to add George to the mix, there is plenty of interest around the league in adding the three-time All-Star point guard. It could only be a matter of time before a deal gets worked out.
