Instead of picking up Edmond Sumner's 2019-2020 team option, the Indiana Pacers are working out a long-term deal with third-year player according to the Indy Star.

Sumner saw a slight boost in minutes played, going from two minutes to 9.1 per game, which can be attributed to the injury Victor Oladipo sustained and kept him out of the last half of the 2018-2019 season.

This season, Sumner averaged 2.9 points, one rebound, and .4 assists in 23 games.

Sumner, 23, sat behind point guards Darren Collison and Aaron Holiday throughout the season.

Indiana has gone through a bit of a change throughout the offseason, trading for Phoenix Suns forward T.J. Warren for cash considerations.

The team is also rumored to be going after shooting guard Danny Green and small forward Justin Holiday.

Sumner played three seasons with Xavier, averaging 11.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and five assists before being drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans and the rights going to Indiana.

While Sumner is will more than likely not receive much playing time with the development of Aaron Holiday, he can provide a bench presence and step up when his name is called.

Sumner is on the Indiana Pacers Summer League roster for 2019, which is going to be played in Las Vegas, Nevada, from July 5-15.
