The Indiana Pacers used to have a big problem when it came to their roster. They had talented centers in Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis. However, both are natural centers and will have to share minutes if they want to play the five.

It used to be a problem that bugged plenty of Pacers fans over the offseason. However, head coach Nate McMillan found the solution to their problems: slide Sabonis to the four and play the two bigs together.

McMillan answered questions from the press about the Pacers’ upcoming season and addressed the Sabonis-Turner issue.

“The first five that I will put on the floor will be Malcolm [Brogdon], Jeremy [Lamb], TJ Warren, Domas, and Myles Turner.”

He was asked about the logic behind the two bigs together, and he pointed to last season as his point of reference.

“We played those guys about 10-15 minutes together. I thought they did a good job of adapting to what opponents were trying to do as far as matchups. Some nights we would see the five on Myles; some nights we would see the five on Domas. They were able to adapt to that during the course of the game.

This year, starting those two… I feel we are going to play those two because I can. What I’m hoping is that our rebounding would be much better with both bigs being out on the floor.”

With Victor Oladipo unlikely to start the season due to injuries, the two need to step up their game. The two bigs were effective last season, both of them notching at least 13 points and six rebounds a night.

Turner already expressed his excitement to share the floor with his teammate.

They will be the stars of the team until Oladipo returns. Pacers fans hope that they can live up to expectations and stand up to the game’s fast pace.
