After being traded to the Utah Jazz, news broke out that George Hill was notified about it by the Indiana Pacers only through voicemail.

Weeks after the rumors surfaced, his former team took to Twitter on Wednesday and gave their side:

In exchange for Hill, the Pacers received Jeff Teague while the Atlanta Hawks got the 12th pick in this year's draft from the Jazz.

In a recent interview after taking his physical with his new team, reporters got a chance to ask Hill about the trade and how he reacted to it:

“It came as a surprise, last time I checked, I was supposed to retire from Indiana. Very surprising, but I know this is a business and anything can happen. So, I'm not upset about it.”

The 30-year-old took the news professionally even if it clearly caught him off guard. Regardless on how he received it from Larry Bird, Hill is already moving on and is now focusing on his big role in Utah as their starter. He will also play alongside two other Indiana natives like him, Gordon Hayward and Trey Lyles.

When asked on how he'll deal with living in Salt Lake City, he had this to say:

“Not prepared for the cold but it happens. It comes with the territory. It’s not like I’ve not been in the cold coming from Indiana, so it can’t be that bad.”
