The Indiana Pacers have signed rookie free-agent Ben Bentil to a contract, the team announced Monday. The terms of the contract have not been disclosed yet, per team policy.

Bentil was drafted 51st overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2016 NBA Draft, but was unable to receive a contract due to a crowded youth mix at his position including Jaylen Brown, James Young, and Jordan Mickey.

The 6-foot-9 forward played two years at Providence, breaking into the starting lineup his sophomore season and averaging 21.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the floor, 32.9 percent from the three-point line, and 78.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Ben Bentil will likely be developed within the organization as it is unlikely for him to crack very many minutes at his position with more experienced forwards like Thaddeus Young and Lavoy Allen getting the load of floor time.
