The Green Bay Packers followed through with their decision to release veteran tight end Jimmy Graham, which opened up $8 million in cap space for the team to use this offseason. That cap space could come in handy. With the NFL sending a memo out stating that the league year will start on time, free agency will begin this coming week.

Fans always want to know what kind of cap room their team has to work with. Unfortunately for the Packers, they don't have much wiggle room within the budget.

According to Over The Cap, the Packers will have around $27.95 million to spend this offseason. That isn't a terrible amount of money, but it ranks them just 21st in the league. Green Bay should be able to bring in an impact player or two.

Rumors have already been circling about a big-time free agency target that the Packers have their eyes on. That target would be tight end Austin Hooper. Even Hooper has stirred the pot with glowing comments about Aaron Rodgers and head coach Matt LaFleur.

If the Packers are able to sign Hooper, their offense would become instantly better. It would give them a new dynamic to their offense. LaFleur would be in heaven, as would Rodgers himself.

With the money that Green Bay has at their disposal, general manager Brian Gutekunst should be able to find a piece or two. The team went 13-3 last season and made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game. A key addition or two could take them over the top.

Expect to hear quite a few rumors about the Packers this offseason. It won't be a ton of action, but Green Bay has some flexibility to make a move or two.
