At 34 years of age, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still in the prime of his career and likely has a handful of years left in the tank. Rodgers admitted in a recent TV appearance that he still wants to play for a long time. In fact, he has his sights set on at least matching New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who’s 40 years old and still going strong.

It’ll obviously be quite a feat if Rodgers comes anywhere close to matching what Brady is accomplishing. The incredibly high level Brady’s continuing to play in even though he’s into his 40s is virtually unprecedented in the league. Based on just how good he looks at the moment, he might be able to go at least a couple of years more if he stays healthy.

Obviously, health will also be the key for Rodgers if he’s to successfully play past 40 like Brady. Rodgers hasn’t quite proven to be as durable as Brady over their respective careers. Aside from niggling injuries, Rodgers has now broken his collarbone twice, costing him 15 games.

Perhaps Rodgers needs to start working with Brady’s personal trainer Alex Guerrero as well. Although Guerrero’s methods have been scrutinized, he’s at least doing something right if Brady is still playing this well into his 40s.

It’s also possible that as good as Rodgers is, he doesn’t even come close to matching Brady’s longevity. But that may just be because Rodgers is a unique freak of nature who has the uncanny ability to defy Father Time.
