The Cincinnati Bengals may have lost their Week 5 showdown to the Green Bay Packers, but they definitely gained the respect of Davante Adams and Co.
Green Bay won the contest, albeit by just a small margin at 25-22 and needing overtime to repel the feisty Bengals. After such a tough win, Adams expressed his respect to Cincinnati and sent a warning to the rest of the NFL about the rising AFC North team.
“It’s not the old Bengals everybody expected to roll over. The Bengals are a good team,” Adams said, per Jeff Wallner of Associated Press.
While the Bengals went down to 3-2 on the season after Sunday’s loss to the Packers, Davante Adams’ remarks are not without merit. After all, Cincinnati indeed looks like legitimate playoff contenders with the way they have played so far.
Aside from the game against the Packers, their other only loss–at the hands of the Chicago Bears in Week 2–was also just by a three-point margin. Granted that their other wins aside from the 24-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers were close, but that only means it’s a team that doesn’t give up and knows how to win even in ugly situations.
The Bengals are currently second in the AFC North, only behind the Baltimore Ravens that are yet to play their fifth game on Monday Night Football. However, it is worth noting that Joe Burrow and Co. are on pace to have a winning record since 2015. For what it’s worth, they only got four wins in 2020.
As the Packers and Adams learned, the Bengals have definitely changed and should not be overlooked anymore.
