Despite Aaron Rodgers' incessant desire to jump ship, the Green Bay Packers are not giving up without a fight. They really want to keep their superstar quarterback, and they are reportedly willing to dig deep into their pockets to make sure this happens.

While there are some who have heavily criticized the Packers for their treatment of Rodgers, the general belief is that the team has done everything in their power to try and retain the services of the league MVP. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, this includes “a significant long-term contract extension offer” from Green Bay. Rapoport did not mention the exact figure, but there have been rumors that this new deal would have made Rodgers the most handsomely paid quarterback in the league.

Rapoport did also say, however, that at this point, the two parties have reached an impasse in their negotiations. It does not come as a surprise that there now appears to be some animosity between Rodgers and the Packers:

“The Packers and Aaron Rodgers are basically where they have been I would say over the last several weeks,” Rapoport stated, via NFL.com. “They are not anywhere. They are not in a good place. They are not happy with each other.”

It's no secret that Rodgers still wants out, though. There has reportedly been “some engagement from Rodgers' side,” but the fact still remains that he would still rather force a move away from Green Bay. Barring an unforeseen turn of events, it does seem like Aaron Rodgers has already played his last game as a Packer.
