The Green Bay Packers have had a very interesting offseason. Reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers first accepted a massive deal, worth $50 million per year. That set off a chain of events leading to the trade of Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. The Packers also lost deep threat Marquez Valdes-Scantling to free agency, leaving a massive void at wideout.

Despite the signings of Randall Cobb and Sammy Watkins, most Packers fans were not very inspired with the current wide receiver room. Low and behold, it might end up working out for Green Bay. NFL Insider Ian Rapoport believes the Packers are in good position to sign Julio Jones, Odell Beckham Jr. or possibly Jarvis Landry.

Rapoport joined The Pat MacAfee Show on Tuesday to talk about it. According to Rapoport, the three former Pro Bowl receivers are unlikely at this stage to earn a $10 million annual contract from anyone, including Green Bay. It’s highly unlikely teams have that much room under the cap this late in free agency.

Therefore, the Packers are an attractive option for those players. The Packers might be able to dangle a “$3 million contract with incentives” and provide them with a chance at a Super Bowl.

Of all the positions in football, wide receivers notoriously are in need of a big stage to showcase what they can do. That’s likely how they can land their next big contract. If no team out there is going to pay them what they are asking curently, it makes sense to join the Packers in hopes of playing deep into the post season.
