The Green Bay Packers came up just short in 2020 for a second straight season, falling in an NFC Championship. From the outside, a lot of fans pointed blame towards now departed defensive coordinator Mike Pettine and cornerback Kevin King for the struggles they displayed in the loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Many assumed King wouldn't be returning to Green Bay but the Packers opted to bring him back on a one-year deal. King addressed the media for the first time since that loss in January and it's clear he has a new mindset entering the 2021 season.

“I’m not the type of guy that just tries to sweep shit under the rug,” King said. “I want to finish this with my guys, the guys who’ve believed in me and the guys who continue to believe in me. I’m going to do my part to uphold my side of the bargain, but…we’re here to win a Super Bowl. I just want to do my 1/11th on defense, and that’s what I’m here to do.”

One problem for King throughout his Packers career has been his inability to stay healthy and on the field for Green Bay. He played in 11 games last year and like his other three seasons prior to it, he rode the roller coaster of having some good moments and some not so good moments on defense. It's a defense that brings back almost all of its core contributors from a year ago and King plans to be a part of it again this year.

This could be King's last chance to prove his worth not only for Green Bay, but for the league as he works on a one-year deal entering his 5th year in the NFL.
