With Randall Cobb moved onto the Dallas Cowboys a new number two receiver needs to step up for the Green Bay Packers, and if minicamp is any indication, it looks like Marquez Valdes-Scantling will be that guy.

During minicamp, it was Valdes-Scantling who was consistently on the field with the first team lining up as the second wideout. Geronimo Allison also looks like the guy who will line up in the slot.

Davante Adams, who is still the top receiver on the team, has taken notice of the significant steps forward that Valdes-Scantling has taken and thinks it's a perfect offense for his skill set.

“I think this offense is really catered for a guy like him,” Adams said of Valdes-Scantling via ESPN. “I think he’s seeing that and he’s recognizing it. We’ve had conversations about it, and I think he’s really starting to understand how this thing works. He’s come in and he’s made some plays. And I think that with young guys, it’s hard to know exactly how to deal with that early success, but he’s doing a great job of it right now. I saw the way he hit it in the offseason — from videos and just our communication — and he’s taking it real serious right now.”

Valdes-Scantling was a fifth-round pick last year out of South Florida, but it didn't take long to prove that he belonged in the league.

He caught 38 passes for 581 yards and two touchdowns, and the expectations are only growing coming into his second year.
