J.J. Watt is going to have a ton of teams expressing interest in him this offseason following his release from the Houston Texans. ESPN's Ed Werder reported that a dozen teams are interested in the former Texans star. Among those who could make a legitimate run at Watt, the Green Bay Packers have been confirmed as one of them, a league source told Sports Illustrated's Packer Central.

Upon being released by the Texans, Watt has a chance to join a contending team as he is in the latter part of his career. Even though Watt turns 32 years old in March, the All-Pro defensive lineman still has plenty to offer a team that is looking to add some firepower to their defensive front.

When it comes to fit, there aren't many teams who would make more sense than the Packers. Green Bay's defense is undergoing a change as Mike Pettine has been replaced by Joe Barry as the defensive coordinator.

Despite the change at defensive coordinator, the Packers boast a talented defense that features Za'Darius Smith, Preston Smith, Rashan Gary, Kenny Clark, Jaire Alexander, Darnell Savage, and Adrian Amos. Adding Watt would give Green Bay some much-needed versatility as he can play in the interior or on the edge.

Besides the scheme fit, Watt would also get an opportunity to play close to home. Watt is from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, which is only a couple of hours away from Green Bay. He also played collegiately at Wisconsin, giving him ties to the community near his hometown.

Lastly, the Packers are a team that are in win-now mode with Aaron Rodgers in the latter part of his career as well. Taking all of that into consideration, it would make sense as to why Green Bay would make a run at the three-time Defensive Player of the Year this offseason.
