Bruce Irvin first came to football prominence when he was a part of that fearsome Seattle Seahawks defense, lining up alongside Michael Bennett, Bobby Wagner, Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor. Now with the Carolina Panthers, Irvin is set to make his season debut with the team as they travel to Houston to face the Texans.

Irvin's debut will come after dealing with a hamstring injury that limited his ability to practice Thursday. While not being the best initial sign he will play, Irvin left little doubt he would suit up:

With Cam Newton still sidelined for who knows how much longer, the Panthers are certainly happy to have Irvin coming back. The Panthers' defense hasn't exactly been stout in their three games so far, but they haven't been awful either. After letting up a combined total of 70 points between those contests, having Irvin back should help in that regard.

As Kyle Allen looked just as impressive as New York Giants rookie Daniel Jones, it will be interesting to monitor his performance against a Houston team looking to take control of its own division. While Allen will do his best to have people keep talking about a possible quarterback battle when Cam Newton returns, Irvin will lead that Panthers defense as they look to stop Deshaun Watson.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons have looked anything but impressive so far this season, and with the New Orleans Saints missing Drew Brees, the Panthers have a chance to pounce on the division early in hopes of maybe making a playoff run.
