The Carolina Panthers are proving to be a mild surprise in the NFL this season. The success they are having so far can be attributed not only to Sam Darnold escaping the football black hole that is Adam Gase but also to a defense that has dominated opponents over their first three games. However, that defense took a hit recently, when cornerback Jaycee Horn went down with a foot injury that is expected to sideline him for months.

In an attempt to mitigate the impact of Horn's temporary loss on their defense, the Panthers have decided to trade for Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback C.J. Henderson, per NFL.com.

Jacksonville has agreed to trade cornerback C.J. Henderson and a future fifth-rounder to the Carolina Panthers for tight end Dan Arnold and a third-rounder, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

Horn suffered the injury during the Panthers' 24-9 road win against the Houston Texans in Week 2. It was a football equivalent (sort of) of a Pyrrhic victory for the Panthers, as they also saw star running back Christian McCaffrey exit the game with a hamstring injury. With Horn and McCaffrey out for weeks, the pressure shoots up for Carolina to sustain its momentum following a 3-0 start.

Henderson was selected ninth overall by the Jaguars in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he hasn't quite delivered yet on the promise that got Jacksonville into spending a high draft capital on him.

Hopefully for Henderson, a new atmosphere will get his career finally going.
