Christian McCaffrey has seen a massive workload with the Carolina Panthers to begin his career and that likely won't change in 2020. In a conversation with ESPN's David Newton, Panthers' new offensive coordinator Joe Brady hinted at McCaffrey's workload remaining the same.

“Christian had 429 touches this past year. That’s a lot, obviously. But if there is one person that can take it . . . it’s Christian McCaffrey. A lot of it will come down to the rest of the personnel on our team and figuring out how we can utilize. . . . But Christian will get his touches.’’

When McCaffrey began his career with the Panthers in 2017, he shared the backfield duties with Jonathan Stewart. Still, Carolina's No. 8 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft would finish with 1,086 scrimmage yards on 197 total touches as a rookie.

Then, after Stewart left in free agency in 2018, McCaffrey proceeded to receive 326 total touches in his second season. With those 326 touches, McCaffrey was able to produce 1,965 yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns.

For the second consecutive season in 2019, the Stanford product saw an increase in touches, seeing a whopping 403 touches in 2019. Besides hauling in 116 receptions, McCaffrey carried the ball 287 times for a total of 2,392 scrimmage yards and 19 touchdowns.

The most important aspect of McCaffrey's career thus far has been him being able to miss zero games due to injury. Seeing how he's performed so far in his career, the Panthers rewarded the dual-threat back with a lucrative extension this offseason.

In recent years, we've seen high-paid running backs sputter due to injuries after signing their extension. Nevertheless, Brady and Carolina are confident that McCaffrey can buck the trend.
