A tough scene during Tuesday's morning on the field has forced the Carolina Panthers to end the practice and call it a day. According to Steve Reed of The Associated Press, wide receiver Keith Kirkwood has been carted off the field following a hit he absorbed from defensive back JT Ibe. The hit appears to be so nasty that the Panthers had to send away from practice.

The Panthers are hoping that Kirkwood's injury is not a serious one, despite the seemingly rough nature of it. Darin Gantt has provided some positive news, which should dial down the anxiety being felt right now by the team.

The good news is Kirkwood was moving his arms and legs. Taken out on a stretcher out of abundance of caution. They’re going to continue to practice.

Kirkwood did not hear his name called in the 2018 NFL Draft, but eventually found himself on an NFL team when the New Orleans Saints signed him shortly thereafter.  He got his first big contract in the league when he signed a 1-year deal worth $800,000 in March 2020 before getting extended for another year in February 2021.

Kirkwood has yet to play more than eight games in a season so far in his NFL career. He's only appeared even in just two games over the last two seasons with the Saints and the Panthers, so this latest ordeal is another blow to his chances to see more action.

In any case, what's important right now is for him to be completely out of harm.
