Having a bum shoulder is the absolute worst, and no one knows better than Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, who suffered a shoulder injury.

ESPN spoke to the superstar, who revealed that thanks to his injury, he couldn't throw beyond 30 yards.

“I didn't know what the f— was wrong with my shoulder,” he said. “I just knew that it hurt and I knew it was an issue. I couldn't throw the ball but 30 yards. No lie. … So I was trying to keep up with it as much as possible that I could until the wheels fell off. And this is what happened. I felt like defenses were exposing me because I couldn't throw the ball downfield. Not being in a position physically to be able to make the throws that you know you're capable of making, that was the disheartening thing of the whole year.”

Cam Newton opened up about his shoulder injury — and subsequent surgery — in a popular video blog, where he shared that he was feeling “vulnerable” after he'd hurt his shoulder.

He subsequently told CBS that he couldn't “fix” his injury through any other means, no matter how hard he tried to do so, which only made him feel even worse, especially when the injuries were so persistent in the pain it brought.

“It doesn't matter how much you push. Ice, anti-inflammatories you take … I mean, trust me, I did it. Acupuncture. Massages. It's just not been a time that (a) night has gone by without me getting some type of work done on my arm.”

Hopefully Cam Newton is past the worst of it now.
