The Carolina Panthers had a rough go of things in Week 16, getting thrashed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on their home soil. Fans were less than thrilled with the performance from Matt Rhule's squad on Sunday, and let the team know it by booing quarterback Sam Darnold when he entered the game in place of Cam Newton. Well, wide receiver Robby Anderson, who was teammates with Darnold on the Jets as well, has come to the defense of the Panthers QB, via Joe Person.

Anderson noted that the crowd was visibly displeased when Darnold entered in relief of Newton, and called the fans out for their quick change in tune after Darnold heaved a 63-yard completion to Shi Smith just two players after being showered by boo birds.

Panthers fans have every right to be frustrated with Matt Rhule's leadership in Carolina, particularly with the head coach's handling of the quarterback situation. Booing Darnold for getting subbed into the game was a stretch too far, however, and Anderson wasn't afraid to call out the fanbase for their antics.

Anderson received his fair share of criticism in the game, too. The wide receiver made a first-down grab in the final minutes of the game, down 26 points, and proceeded to celebrate in front of the Buccaneers' bench, much to the ire of Panthers fans. Anderson was called out on social media for his antics, but clapped back with a pretty hilarious reply of his own.

The Panthers are a dumpster fire right now and the fanbase is quickly losing patience. Despite that, Anderson couldn't help but come to the defense of Darnold after the way he was treated in front of his home crowd on Sunday.
