Throughout his NFL career, Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers has received his fair share of criticism and taunting from fans for his shortcomings on the field.

This was once again the case over the weekend as he was at a 7-on-7 camp in Bradenton, Florida where one young fan decided to trash talk Newton asking him if he could give him a fumble to which the former league MVP didn't respond well to the comments.

It's clear that Newton's isn't one to take negative critic of his play calmly as the play that the kid is referencing was the fumble in Super Bowl 50 against the Denver Broncos. This was a game-changing play as Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller forced the fumble that was recovered for a touchdown by his teammate Malik Jackson. Newton had received much criticism for his lack of effort to recover the fumble in what was a tone-setting play.

In total, he had fumbled twice in the Super Bowl and was sacked six times in the 24-10 loss to the Broncos. The loss partly overshadowed what was an impressive season where he won NFL MVP award and reached that stage of the playoffs for the first time in his career. He had elevated himself to being considered one of the league's top quarterbacks with a unique ability to impact the game significantly with both his arm and legs.

Newton has yet to be able to redeem himself in the biggest game of his career, but the Panthers are hoping to change that narrative this offseason with the changes to the coaching staff and additional offensive weapons the front office has added to the roster. This may be setting the foundation to what could see Newton push Carolina back into the picture as legitimate Super Bowl contender while building off their playoff appearance last year.
