Houston Rockets three-and-D specialist Patrick Beverley will return to his starting point guard role against the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday, head coach Mike D'Antoni told ESPN's Calvin Watkins.

While the Rockets have managed to keep afloat with a 6-4 record, the presence of two perimeter defenders that can knock down the three in Beverley and Trevor Ariza, while having an interior presence in Clint Capela, should help the team spread its margin of victory while giving superstar James Harden some much needed help containing opposing players.

Even once Beverley returns to the starting point guard position, Harden is still expected to carry the offensive load, relegating a red-hot Eric Gordon to a bench role, likely the one of a sixth man.

Patrick Beverley shot a career-high 40 percent from deep last season while sporting averages of a shade under 10 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
