New England Patriots star quarterback Cam Newton was left unimpressed with his performance against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The contest resulted in a  36-20 win for the Patriots, but Newton expressed his disappointment in his play.

Newton appeared on The Greg Hill Show and explained his reasoning for why his play should be better going forward.

“Yesterday was kind of frustrating in itself. …There will be games like that, and when there is games like that, you've just got to find ways to win,” Newton said.

Newton didn't have a horrible game for the Patriots contrary to his statements. He completed 17 of 28 passes for 162 yards to go along with one touchdown.

Where Newton may be referencing his need to be better is by an increase in yards thrown along with touchdown plays more frequently. He also threw one interception as well. He's thrown two picks this season while also being sacked a total of five times.

“”Me, personally? With lackluster ball security, just a slow start offensively, this is subpar performance. I know I can play better, I know I can do better and I know I will be better,” he continued.

Newton's performances so far can be described as an unsolved equation. He performed well in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 but performed average in a win to the Raiders in Week 3. Newton will need those 397 yards thrown against the Seahawks to continue if he plans to dominate for the Patriots.

Also, his running game will need to remain decent. He saw a pretty big deep in rushing yards against the Raiders compared to that in his first two games. He only rushed for 27 yards in Week 3, a fraction of what he'd done in prior contests.
