New quarterback of the New England Patriots, superstar quarterback Cam Newton, is talking about his current contract situation.

According to Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com, Newton feels that his contract is the last thing on his mind. Newton was asked about his contract during an appearance on WEEI:

“You must understand, that is literally the last of my worries and if we had to put an analogy in it, that is under so much work at my desk that I am not really too much focused on it,” Newton said. “I do admire and love the culture of the Patriots. It’s been a place for me that has been therapeutic. This is a place that has been rather challenging for my growth and is making me better. And also, it has been a place that has given me everything for my needs at this particular time in my life. Through it all, I am going to let the cards shuffle the way they shuffle and do the things that I can control.”

One of the more interesting signing of this offseason occurred when the Patriots agreed to an incentive-heavy contract with free agent quarterback Newton.

Newton has been one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL for a long time. But some team disappointment and an injury saw him part ways with the Carolina Panthers this offseason.

What was so surprising about the whole situation was that not only did it take far too long for a team to sign Newton, but he was signed to a shockingly low contract.

The Patriots are 1-1 and Newton is looking good in the early parts of the season. That contract situation could be a serious distraction though, right?

Well it appears Newton is not thinking about it. He does not care about the money, he's more focused on that respect. And that's probably why he chose the Patriots – they were ready to give him a shot at a starting position.

The quarterback appears to be prepared to take New England on a deep playoff run. Right now that is his focus, nothing to do with any contract – but winning.
