The New England Patriots have been regarded as one of the best-run organizations under Bill Belichick. The multi-time Super Bowl winner built a selfless culture with the team, where players do what's best for the team. This “Patriot Way” has been lauded by fans, in part due to the success this mentality brought.

However, there are some that aren't fans of this team-wide mantra of the Patriots. One of these guys is former New England cornerback Asante Samuel, who slammed Bill Belichick's “Patriot Way” in a podcast. Here's what Samuel had to say about the famed Belichickian mantra. (via Mass Live)

“Some of them be brainwashed with that Patriot Way. I ain’t going for none of that. I don’t know what no Patriot Way is. All of them is company men, talking about Patriot Way… I’m here to get money, take care of my family, the same way Belichick is here to take care of his family, get his money. So when you try to hold my money back and you want all your money, I ain’t got no respect for you.”

The success of the Tom Brady – Bill Belichick era could largely be attributed to key players taking pay cuts to consistently field a competitive team. No other player embodied the “Patriot Way” more than Brady, who took contracts below his perceived market value. Because of that, the Patriots could keep other players vital to their systems.

Clearly, though, this mentality isn't for everyone. Money makes the world go round, after all. You can't really blame players like Samuel who would rather chase a bag than go for team glory. Still, Samuel believes that Belichick could be the GOAT coach… if he snags another title for New England.
