New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman almost cost the Patriots the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, as a Tom Brady pass glanced off of Edelman's hands and into the waiting arms of Chiefs safety Daniel Sorensen, resulting in Kansas City scoring a touchdown and taking a 21-17 lead with 7:45 remaining in regulation.

Edelman said the key to moving on afterward was simply putting the drop out of his mind:

“It is part of the game,” Edelman said in the postgame press conference, via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “I always preach you have to have a short memory, whether it is good or bad. That was a bad play. I felt awful, but you have to move on. You have to look forward to the next time your number is called.”

Edelman did just that, and in a big way.

The wideout had a catch on New England's final drive of the fourth quarter, which led to a go-ahead touchdown. Then, in overtime, Edelman caught a pair of enormous third-down balls to extend the Pats' drive, which ultimately ended in a rushing touchdown by Rex Burkhead to send the Patriots to the Super Bowl.

Edelman ended up with seven receptions for 96 yards in the win.

Remember: last year, the 32-year-old was sidelined with a torn ACL when New England made it to the Super Bowl, so this will actually be Edelman's first Super Bowl appearance since February 2017, when the Patriots rallied from a 25-point deficit to defeat the Atlanta Falcons.
