New England Patriots linebacker Matt Judon has so far had quite a standout campaign in his debut season with the team, which has garnered high approval from head coach Bill Belichick.

Judon entered the campaign with plenty of expectations, especially after an offseason where he opted to join the Patriots on a four-year, $54.5 million deal. It sure is safe to say that Judon is so far surpassing such expectations this season.

Judon has been quite a force in the Patriots defense, which has included recording 12.5 sacks over 14 games played. The constant pressure that he has brought on opposing quarterbacks over the season has helped the Patriots become one of the more multidimensional defensive units in the league.

Overall, Belichick has been quite pleased with Judon's on-field play as of late, which he touched on during a press conference ahead of the Patriots' Week 16 home matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

“Matt's a good player,” Belichick said. “He does a lot of things well. He's added a lot to our team and our defense.

“I think he's shown a good ability to play the run, hold up on the line of scrimmage, rush the passer, pursue, effort, does a good job for us on punt return. All the situations he's on the field for, it's good to have him out there. He's a good player.”

Judon and the Patriots defense will have another key test upcoming in the AFC East rematch with the Bills this week. If the veteran pass rusher can help slow down quarterback Josh Allen over the contest, it sure would bode well for the Patriots’ chances of completing the season sweep over the Bills.
