In his attempt to continue his NFL career, former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has an ongoing collusion case against the league. It has already led to the deposition of several prominent front office and ownership figures in the NFL in the process.

The latest to join that growing list has been New England Patriots longtime owner Robert Kraft, according to TMZ Sports.

Another major NFL honcho is being deposed in the Colin Kaepernick collusion case — this time it's New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft … TMZ Sports has learned.

Kraft is widely regarded as being one of the most outspoken and most influential owners currently in the NFL and the decision to depose him doesn't come as much of a surprise. He is part of a growing group of notable names such as Denver Broncos general manager John Elway, Houston Texans owner Bob McNair, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider, commissioner Roger Goodell, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, and Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

The decision to bring in Kraft was likely a move to better gauge the rationale as to why Kaepernick hasn't received any serious interest to bring him on any team since he hit the free agent market last offseason. There have been several situations where it would have seemed reasonable to believe that he could have been considered a possible choice by teams have elected to head in other directions.

That said, the longer this entire case rolls on the more it could harm his chances of getting back in the league as team's are more concerned that bringing him aboard the distractions will arise from the media attention away from the field. In any case, he will likely be a backup that could constantly be asked questions away from the game that would overshadow his role with a team. Nonetheless, it doesn't look like this case will be nearing a close anytime soon.
