Sony Michel was drafted with the 31st pick in last year's draft by the New England Patriots, and he showed throughout the season that there were a lot of teams who probably shouldn't have let him slip that far. After finishing the season with 931 yards and six touchdowns in just 13 games played, Michel now has time to reflect on his first season in the league, and he is hoping this is something he can build on:

“You just jump right into it and there won’t be any looking back until next offseason,” Michel told reporters on Tuesday, via the Boston Herald. “…Just trying to work on some of my movements, speed, everything. You want to work on all aspects of the game.”

Michel didn't feel overwhelmed in his first season with the team, but at times he did admit that it was a bit surreal to accomplish everything the team did in his first season:

“It’s something that hits you in little moments of your life,” Michel said. “It’s like, ‘Damn, we really won the Super Bowl.’ It’s hard to have that on your mind, that we won the Super Bowl, because it’s such a prestigious award.”

James White was the main threat catching the ball out of the backfield, and that is an area Michel would really like to improve on. He knows that it might not be his main role next year, but if he is asked to be more of a pass-catching back, he wants to be ready:

“It all depends on how everything plays out,” Michel said. “If that’s what coach wants me to do, then I’m going to have to step up and do it. It’s all dependent on what they want my role to be.”

Michel won a Super Bowl in his rookie season, and he will be looking for more in 2019.
