The New England Patriots are hoping to have Tom Brady back in 2020, and Patrick Chung understands that the players on the roster can't decide for him. Just a month before free agency begins, Chung opened up about the uncertainty surrounding Brady.

“(It’s) not weird,” Chung said, via Zack Cox of NESN.com. “It’s just something we can’t control, and we can’t worry about things we can’t control. He’s a grown man. He can do whatever he wants to make sure his family and his foundation are set. That’s all I’m going to say about that. It’s out of my control.”

While Brady is an impending free agent, Chung is under contract with the Patriots in 2020. The veteran safety has spent 10 of his 11 seasons in New England. However, next season could be Chung's first season with the Patriots that Brady isn't his quarterback.

It goes without saying that New England's entire offseason is dependent on whether or not he re-signs with them. Regardless, his decision could determine the future of some of the Patriots' other free agents. Among New England's other free agents, Nate Ebner shared the same sentiment as Chung.

“Every year, guys’ contracts come up,” Ebner said. “That’s part of football. Like (Chung) said, it’s out of our control, and it’s part of football. We can’t worry about stuff we can’t control.”

Even though it's considered tampering, it's likely that Brady or his agent speaks with other teams during the NFL Combine that begins on Monday. The earlier Brady chooses a team, the earlier that the Patriots can move forward with their plan in the offseason.
