There is plenty of hype surrounding the AFC showdown between the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs. Quarterback Tom Brady and wide receiver Phillip Dorsett managed to press the issue in the second quarter.

The Patriots got off to a hot start on both sides of the ball. Brady was able to put the stamp on a solid first half by finding Dorsett for a 29-yard touchdown, via NFL Twitter:

The score was a bit of a crushing blow for Kansas City. Despite their struggles on offense, they were able to contain Brady in the first half. Unfortunately, it seemed to only be a matter of time before he found one of his guys open and they were able to secure a 14-0 lead going into halftime because of it.

One would have been hard-pressed to assume Dorsett would be able to make an impact on this game. He has largely failed to fit the billing as a former first-round pick throughout his career. As a result, he was a part of the trade that sent quarterback Jacoby Brissett to the Indianapolis Colts.

Despite his struggles, Dorsett has emerged as a trusted option for quarterback Tom Brady following the departure of wide receiver Josh Gordon. He had registered nine catches for 75 yards and two touchdowns in the two games prior to New England's showdown with Kansas City. It is safe to assume that Brady will continue to look his way, especially with the defense focused heavily on tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Julian Edelman.
