Tom Brady has always had a good relationship with his receivers, even if they aren't on the roster. So, when Chris Hogan leaves the New England Patriots for the Carolina Panthers, Brady still has love to give for one of his former targets.

Before the Patriots and Panthers preseason game on Thursday in Foxborough, the two former teammates caught up.

Brady and Hogan spent three seasons together in New England. During that span, Hogan won two Super Bowls. The former lacrosse star turned NFL receiver acted as Brady's deep-threat; in his first season, he averaged 17.8 yards per reception, a metric that led the NFL. Over Hogan's span as a Patriot, he caught 107 passes for 1,651 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Though Hogan has left New England and isn't catching passes from the widely considered GOAT, his new quarterback isn't a slouch. In 2019, he'll be catching passes from 2015 MVP Cam Newton.

Hogan said on his new quarterback, via the Charlotte Observer‘s Madeline Coleman, “They’re two different types of players, and I think it’s tough to compare a quarterback position. When it comes down to put on pads and playing football, Cam wants to win football games, and that’s pretty apparent, coming out here and working with him. I know he’s a pretty good competitor, and desires to have fun and competing.”

Though Hogan should have fun and compete with Newton in Carolina, it's no shock that he's happy to see his older teammates; especially considering that he won two Super Bowls with them.
