New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis was fined $50,000 on Tuesday for his public trade request. The Pelicans, who are in Houston taking on James Harden and the Houston Rockets, will be without Davis, as he recovers from a finger injury.
Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry met with reporters pregame and responded to the NBA's decision to fine Anthony Davis.
Alvin Gentry said he hasn't given it much thought if the fine was enough and that he's not really focused on it.
Gentry and the Pelicans have been put in a tough situation. One of the best players in the NBA has requested a trade with the trade deadline just nine days away. It has undoubtedly put a lot of stress on the head coach and the front office in New Orleans.
The fine of $50,000 is the max amount NBA commissioner Adam Silver can hand a player for a public trade request. Whether Gentry and the Pelicans feel Davis should have been fined more doesn't matter. Now, all the focus in The Big Easy has to be on which team the Pelicans are going to ship Davis to and what type of grand return are they going to get.
New Orleans can trade Davis in the summer as well. They are under no obligation to trade AD by the deadline anyway.
