There is a huge amount of anticipation for the release of the NBA 2K18 video game.

One of the big reasons for the buzz is the adjusted cover with All-Star Kyrie Irving being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Boston Celtics over this offseason. Despite that, New Orleans Hornets All-Star forward Anthony Davis sent out a post on Instagram showing that he received a copy of the game that is now deemed as being a “vintage” copy.

It's quite fascinating that this cover is deemed as being “vintage” when the game was just released. There are only a few instances where this change before the game's release date had to be made with one of the only other comparisons was Brett Farve being traded from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets in the summer of 2008 prior to Madden 09 coming out.

This cover could have some real value down the line given the rare occasions that it has happened over the years. The fact that Davis received a copy means that there is likely much more out there that could be had if requested.
