Lonzo Ball of the New Orleans Pelicans has recently decided to cut ties with Jay-Z's Roc Nation to sign with Klutch Sports as his new agent. This comes as quite a surprise as it has only been months since Ball signed with Roc Nation.

Ball himself opened up about the decision, and it seems to be more of him taking control of his own career as opposed to a falling out with Roc Nation:

“I wanted to lead my career,” Ball told Malika Andrews of ESPN. “Picking my own representation — just solely as my decision — was step one in that process. For me, it was an easy call, and it was the right time to make that call.”

Lonzo Ball recently had a public spat with his own father, LaVar Ball, with Lonzo demanding more independence from his dad. LaVar had been by Lonzo's side from the beginning, and as it appeared, Lonzo wanted to break away from his father's shadow.

The two have since made up, but it is clear that this was in Lonzo's terms. As he expressed himself, he remains in contact with his father, and they speak almost every day. However, Lonzo now has full autonomy over his own career now, and his decision to sign with Klutch Sports is a prime example of the same.

Ball joins the likes of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Ben Simmons, and Trae Young — to name a few — as the latest addition to Rich Paul's growing roster of clients with Klutch Sports.
