Throughout his NBA career, Rajon Rondo has shown a strong passion for the game and has been touted on numerous occasions for his high basketball IQ.

It appears that he wants to carry that over to a coaching career after he retires, according to a recent interview with Shams Charania of The Vertical. (H/T Uproxx).

“Absolutely I’ll coach,” Rondo said. “Whether it’s chess or Connect Four, if it’s a strategy game, especially if it’s the playoffs, that’s what I love the most. You have to counter. Each game is different, and that’s when the coaching style really comes into play, in the playoffs.”

Rondo could have a lot offer as a coach due to his vast experience as an NBA point guard that has been regarded as one of the best passers at his position in the league over his career. However, there could be potential issues down that line as the former All-Star guard has built a strong reputation for his strong personality that has often been difficult to work with.

This saw him bump heads with a few of his head coaches, including things coming to a boiling point with Rick Carlisle in his lone campaign with the Dallas Mavericks. This may make it a challenging process for him to make the transition to coaching realm once his playing days are up.

The 31-year-old looks to still have plenty left in the tank on the court, but whenever he does decide to step away, he already has his next career venture in mind.
