New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson is progressing in his recovery from hamstring injury, but unfortunately, there is still no clear timetable for his return.

In the latest update from the Pelicans, the team revealed that Williamson was re-evaluated recently and the results showed that his hamstring issue is healing as they expected. Nonetheless, it is clear he is still not ready to suit up, with New Orleans pointing out that he will undergo rehab work before his condition is assessed once again.

“Williamson will continue his rehabilitation process, which includes strengthening his hamstring and gradually progressing to more movement. He will be re-evaluated again in two weeks,” the team announced.

Zion Williamson has been sidelined since early January due to the hamstring problem he sustained in their showdown with the Philadelphia 76ers. Reports at that time mentioned that he's going to be sidelined for multiple weeks–with an evaluation set after three weeks.

While it is certainly good news that he hasn't suffered any setback in his recovery, it's definitely concerning that he's going to miss an extended period of time past the three-week mark. It's understandable why the Pelicans are not rushing his recovery, but it's hard for fans not to be frustrated with how injury-prone Williamson has been early in his career. He missed the whole 2021-22 season due to a foot injury, and now he's missing a huge chunk of the season.

Adding more to the disappointment is the fact that the Pelicans have been one of the best teams this season when Zion is playing. They even competed for the top seed in the West at one point, only to fall in the standings since his injury.

Fans can only be patient for now, though hopes remain high that Zion's return comes sooner rather than later.
