MLB commissioner Rob Manfred likely has a full plate at the moment with the World Series going on and the offseason looming. Now, PETA has put another topic on his dish.

Per Bleacher Report, PETA is asking MLB to change the name “bullpen,” the area in which pitchers warm up to, “arm barn.” PETA wants the change because they believe the word “bullpen” is insensitive to cows.

“Strike out the word ‘bullpen,' which references the holding area where terrified bulls are kept before slaughter, in favor of a more modern, animal-friendly term,” PETA wrote.

Tracy Reiman, the organization's executive vice president, added: “Words matter, and baseball ‘bullpens' devalue talented players and mock the misery of sensitive animals.”

It's such a wild request by PETA for MLB and it's worth wondering why they are bringing this forward now when the term bullpen has been used for over a century. Nonetheless, their suggestion of “arm barn” as a replacement is strikingly hilarious and awesome.

Their stance that it's insensitive to cows is definitely a brain buster but at least they brought a suggestion to the table and a good one at that. The next move is to see if the MLB responds and if they do how they choose to answer this request from PETA.
